DECO Summer sewalong - WEEK 2

DECO Summer sewalong - WEEK 2

Welcome back for week 2! We’re ready to dive in and start making our FPP blocks this week.

Sort fabric and double check order

I like to sort my fabric strips in stacks, all at the same time. This way, they’re all the exact same, so that I don’t have to think much when I sew. I do this for both the Deco Glam and the Deco Diamonds quilt.

Start your FPP!

With one pre-creased template and one fabric stack by my side, I start assembling the first color A FPP fan. The FPP process is described in detail in the pattern. I also have a reel on Instagram that walks you through the process, if you’re having trouble visualizing it.

A cut-resistant glove with gripping dots will make cutting safer (I use the NoCry brand, make sure you measure your hand for a snug fit!) A cut-resistant glove is especially important for trimming excess around curves when the FPP fan is finished at the end of the week. There’s a video on my Instagram account demonstrating this.

Reference the list on page 19 (Deco Diamonds) / on page 14 (Deco Glam) to see how many blocks of A and B (or halves) you need - and make them all! Then trim around the template edges and give them a good press.

- If you're making a Deco Diamonds quilt, you'll have this and next week to finish your blocks.

- If you're making a Deco Glam quilt, we'll extend our fans next week!

I'd love to see your progress! If you post on Instagram or Facebook, make sure you tag me @GingerlyQuiltCo, so I can see and reshare your work ❤️
