Quilt your own "Starry Night" painting with fabric!

The next class starts January 16th, 2025!

Dive into the world of Vincent Van Gogh and learn all about Expressionism, Quilt Painting and how to grow as a fabric artist!

This Masterclass is for you if you want to let go of traditional quilting techniques and try something new and unique!

No seam pressing, templates, fusible or glue! (Free-motion quilting is totally optional, just as a finishing step, but not required!)

In this freeform, creative and norm-busting straight-line sewing class, you will learn to paint with fabric and bring your artistic vision of "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh to life.

This class is 10 weeks long and you'll need about 3-5 hours a week to work on your quilt. At the end, you could have this incredible painting on your own wall at home, to be admired and appreciated by everyone who comes to your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this class online or in person?

This is an online class.

Is this class live or pre-recorded? How long will I have access?

It is a pre-recorded online class that starts on January 25th, 2025 as a quilt along! Each week, a new module drops with about 5-10 new videos and exercises for the week. We will have a Facebook group where we can discuss and interact during the class.

Classes will have lifetime access, so you can also go at your own pace, even after the 10-week quilt along. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of the learning platform I use, which is Thinkific. As long as they are around, you'll have access to the class.

Can I use my own fabric and thread for the class?

Yes, of course you can! I have tips in the intro week videos that will help you pick fabric or supplement colors if you need to.

If you don't have a big stash, the most economical option is to get the curated bundle on my website, because a lot of shops don't cut down to 1/8yd, so you'd have to buy a Fat Quarter in each of the colors, which is twice as much as you need.

We use 20x 1/8yds in this quilting project (plus background fabric and batting). Binding and backing fabric is optional and not needed if you frame your work with a canvas or posterboard.

I ordered my supplies, but they haven't shipped in a while!

Because supplies orders are on a pre-order basis, they can take several few weeks to fulfill. They will be shipped to you by January 16th, 2025 when the class starts.

I just ordered the class! What now?

You will get an email from Thinkific with a link to either create an account with Thinkific or, if you already have one, with a link to the course. If you don't get an email, please check your SPAM and Promotion folders.

Immediately after sign up, you get access to a series of intro videos that walk you through the class details, supplies needed and some helpful troubleshooting tips. Make sure to watch these before the class starts on January 25th and gather your supplies.

What is Quilt Painting?

"Quilt Painting" is a technique I developed that aims to mimic the brushstrokes of a painting by using fabric and thread!

In this class, we'll mimic the Expressionistic brushstrokes of Vincent Van Gogh.

"A really detailed course on a new quilting technique. I'd say it has a knowledgeable, passionate instructor. "

  • Erica A.

"I enjoyed it. Concise, but full of great information at the same time."
