Deco Glam Sew-Along - WEEK 2
Share
Welcome back for week 2! We’re ready to dive in and make all our FPP fans this week.
Crease your paper templates first!
Pre-crease your templates, if you haven’t yet. This is important for the FPP process described in the pattern. I use the flat end of an Add-A Quarter Ruler held upside down, which makes the perfect edge to crease along.
Sort fabric and double check order
I like to sort my fabric strips in stacks, all at the same time. This way, they’re the exact same, so that I don’t have to think much when I sew.
Start your FPP!
With one pre-creased template and one fabric stack by my side, I start assembling the first color A FPP fan. The FPP process is described in detail in the pattern, on page 13 & 14. I also have a reel on Instagram that walks you through the process, if you’re having trouble visualizing it.
A cut-resistant glove with gripping dots will make cutting safer (I use the NoCry brand, make sure you measure your hand for a snug fit!) A cut-resistant glove is especially important for trimming excess around curves when the FPP fan is finished at the end of the week. There’s a video on my Instagram account demonstrating this.
Reference the list on page 14 to see how many full and half color A and B fans you need - and make them all! Then trim around the template edges and give them a good press.
That’s all for this week! Next week, we'll create our extended fans. Don't forget to share your fans in progress on Instagram and comment on the week 2 post by August 15th to be entered into the giveaway 😊
